Landscape Architecture and Design Research Guides from Montana State University offer resources for selecting and planting care.
The Montana Conservation Seedling Nursery is part of the Montana DNRC and provides plants for conservation projects throughout Montana. The nursery offers seedlings and bareroot stock that are locally adapted and sourced to grow on sites across Montana. The Catalog & Resources page has additional planting selection and care guides.
Your local conservation district representative can assist you in selecting what tree species would grow best in your forest to meet your land management goals. Additionally, they may be able to provide information on financial assistance programs in your area to assist with conservation.
Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Service Foresters are available to assist forest landowners with forest planning and management, including tree species recommendations.
If you need professional help with individual trees after a disturbance that are a threat to life or property, you may want to contact a qualified arborist. The International Society of Arboriculture maintains lists of certified professionals.

- Montana NRCS Fire Recovery Resources provide guidance on when and how to perform land treatments post-fire, such as seeding and hazard tree removal.

- Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Report occurs on federal lands following more severe fires. While BAER does not conduct assessments on private land, private land owners can view information from assessments of neighboring federal land, including recovery recommendations.
