Water reservations authorized by the State of Montana are water rights held by a conservation district for future agricultural irrigation projects and use.
The Board of Natural Resources and Conservation granted fourteen water reservations to conservation districts in the Yellowstone River basin in 1978. Ten were granted in the Upper Missouri River basin in 1992, and eleven in the Lower and Little Missouri River basins in 1994. Some conservation districts have reservations in more than one basin. Please contact the appropriate conservation district for more information.
