Temporary Pause
February 11 2025
Due to ongoing delays in federal reimbursements, the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) Forestry and Trust Lands Division is implementing a temporary pause on all United States Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management federally funded projects, grants, subawards, and contracts, effective Friday, February 21, 2025. This notice serves as your 10-day notice to stop work. DNRC does not have the financial reserves to continue payments without federal reimbursements. We understand the challenges this pause may pose and appreciate your patience as we await a resolution. The length of this pause will depend on the federal review of funding; DNRC is not in control of that process.
What This Means for You
• Pause All Activities: All work on federally funded grants, contracts, subawards, and other projects must stop immediately if possible, or no later than February 21, 2025.
• Invoicing & Payments: Work completed by contractors, subrecipients, or landowners through February 21, 2025, should be invoiced as soon as possible. Costs for work performed after this date may not be reimbursable.
• Suspension of New Transactions: No new contracts or subawards will be executed until further notice.
• Notification Requirement: Subrecipients are responsible for notifying their landowner beneficiaries, contractors, and/or any partners with whom they have a direct relationship.
We recognize the inconvenience this pause may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. If you have any questions regarding your contract, subaward, or other agreement, please reach out to Deana Carlson at 406-542-4308 or deanacarlson@mt.gov.
DNRC will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.
