Tree Planting Grants are "tree-centric", meaning that the primary focus of the grant is to purchase and plant one or more trees in the celebration of Arbor Day.  Tree Planting Grants are funded by the State of Montana - Natural Resources Operations Fund.

All Montana communities are eligible to apply. Only one application per Montana community will be accepted.

Tree Planting Grants are "tree-centric" and are provided for the purchase and planting of trees in celebration of Arbor Day.  

Grant recipients are required to submit an Arbor Day Proclamation.

Sample Proclamation

All communities are eligible for a $350 grant.

Tree City USA communities are eligible for a $850 grant.

No match is required for this grant, however tracking of excess funds spent and volunteer time is strongly encouraged.

The 2024 Tree Planting Grant opens on 12/18/23.
