1. How many acres do I need to qualify?

        Any amount of acreage qualifies.

2. Do I need a planting plan?

We used to require planting plans. While a planting plan can be helpful for a landowner to execute their conservation project. We do not need to see it. The conservation verification checklist will tell us what we need to know.

3. We moved to a new property, do we have to order the new customer order minimum?

No, once you place an initial order with us you can order as a returning customer regardless of where the trees are being planted, and no matter how long it has been since you ordered from us.

4. What is the difference between a bareroot and containerized seedling?

Bareroot seedlings do not have soil around their roots. Containerized seedlings are often called "plugs" and have soil around the roots. See the diagram below.

5. Why did the price of seedlings increase in 2023?

The nursery had to increase the price of seedlings due to the increase in cost of our supplies. Fertilizer, soil, plastic pots, etc. have all increased dramatically in price over the years causing us to have to increase our prices as well. The nursery is a sole proprietor and does not receive an annual budget from the state. We are funded by our seedling dollars, and funding we can apply for. The Nursery has to be profitable in order to operate.

6. What financial assistance is available for landowners who are planting seedlings?

There are no direct grants through the DNRC for individual landowners looking to purchase seedlings.

If a landowner or group of landowners have a large enough scale project that would be considered a landscape scale restoration effort, you can reach out to your local service forester to discuss the possibility of putting together a project proposal.

For small scale landowners, you can try reaching out to your local conservation district to see if they have mini-grants available.

7. Can I bring my pots and trays back to the nursery?

Yes! We will happily take back your large 100 & 175 size pots and trays to re-use. We do not take back cardboard boxes or plastic bags.
