Administrative Rules of Montana (ARM)
Rules adopted by the MBOGC are contained in Title 36, Chapter 22 of the Administrative Rules of Montana (ARM). These include rules for drilling and production, Class II underground injection, well abandonment, and for various tax incentives that require Board involvement.
Rules Montana Codes Annotated (MCA)
Statutes related to oil and gas development are contained in Title 82, Chapters 10 and 11, Montana Code Annotated (MCA). Some actions, such as forced pooling (§ 82-11-202 MCA) and unitization (§ 82-11-205 MCA, et seq.), exist only in statute and have no associated rules.
