Elevation NewCo, LLC Non-Mechanized Exploration NE of the Inactive Smith-Dillon Talc Mine 2025-04-14
Closing Date: 05-19-2025
Elevation NewCo, LLC plans to conduct non-mechanized mineral exploration for talc on state land/mineral estate southeast of Dillon, Montana after issuance of a State of Montana non-mechanized Land Use License (LUL) for the N½N½ of Section 24, T8S, R8W. Mineral exploration efforts will focus on mapping geology and collecting rock chip samples for analyses. Mapping involves taking notes, compass readings, observing and collecting locations of surface outcrops, geologic features, presence of talc mineralization, favorable alteration and then plotting them on topographic maps or aerial photos. Representative samples of rock outcrops with favorable alteration or mineralization will be taken and the samples sent to an accredited laboratory for detailed analyses of chemistry and physical features. A small amount of digging could occur to better access rock/soil at and/or just below the ground’s surface. Exploration goals include further characterization of the geology and mineral potential of the area and identification of possible deposits containing talc. The company anticipates conducting UAV collection of geophysical, topographic, and aerial photographic data. Hand-held instruments may be used for non-mechanized ground geophysical surveys. MT DNRC expects additional exploration work to include sampling of prospect pits from previous mineral exploration and collection of some soil samples. Sampling of rock and possibly soil material would involve use of hand tools, such as rock hammers, trowels, and shovels. The proponent plans to traverse the licensed area on foot from existing unimproved roads and trails.
