In 2014, the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation began the process of making cabin and home site lease lots available for sale at the request of the lessee, in accordance with Montana Code Annotated 77-2-317 through 318. Leased cabin and home sites are now sold annually, following a selection period which occurs every other year. Available cabin sites and their status can be found below.

Cabin Site Forms
- Hearing Request form - Lessees may request an informal administrative hearing to contest appraised values. This form must be submitted to the department within 10 days of the departments notification of appraised values.
- Power of Attorney - If a qualified bidder is unable to attend the auction, this form must be submitted prior to auction in order to designate a legal representative for the auction.
- Form 1.1 Agreement to Sell Improvements - Binds the owner of improvements to sell, provide access to, and transfer clear title of improvements to the highest bidder who consummates the terms of the sale.
- Form 1.2 Bill of Sale - Held in escrow by DNRC, and recorded after closing. Reports that on a specific date (closing date), and for a particular sum of money, the seller sold the improvements to the buyer.
- Form 1.3 Agreement to Terminate State Lease Due to Land Sale - Held in escrow by DNRC and effective as of closing date, to terminate the current lease.
- Form 2 Invitation to Purchase State Land - Information regarding the auction process for anyone interested in bidding at auction.
- Form 3 Offer to Purchase and Bid Deposit Receipt - Submitted to DNRC, along with required bid deposit, and pre-qualification letter or proof of funds on or before registration deadline to insure participation in the auction.
- Form 4 Security Interest Authorization Form - Must be completed by the Mortgagee and submitted to DNRC if determined there are liens against the improvements.
- Form 5 Real Estate Buy-Sell Agreement - Executed by the highest bidder immediately upon the close of auction.
- Form 6 Ownership Indemnification Form - States that the improvements owner is the full and complete owner(s) of the improvements.
- Form 7 Sewer Annexation Waiver - requires participation in a sewer district when/if one is established (not applicable to all sales)
