Recent Announcements

The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC), Forest Management Program has jointly prepared a Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (Final SEIS) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). The Final SEIS addresses issues and concerns raised during the Draft SEIS public comment period. All new information and analysis supplied during the comment period and developed in response to comments received were used to prepare the Final SEIS.

DNRC will set forth its final decision and rationale in its Record of Decision (ROD). The ROD is a public notice identifying what the decision is, the reasons for the decision, and any special conditions surrounding the decision or its implementation. Pursuant to ARM 17.4.620, DNRC may issue its ROD no less than 15 days from the transmittal of the Final EIS to the public, the Environmental Quality Council, and the office of the Governor.

For additional copies of the Final SEIS please contact Jessica Thiel, at 406-542-4314 or jessica.thiel@mt.gov.

The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC), Forest Management Program intends to jointly prepare a draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. DNRC is proposing to amend the existing HCP to cover 81,416 acres of additional lands that have been brought into DNRC ownership since the adoption of the Permit and HCP and to incorporate the terms of a settlement agreement.

Annual Report

Every year the DNRC provides the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) updates on the HCP. These reports serve to help assess the success of HCP implementation and the effectiveness of conservation commitments.

Annual Review

The DNRC and USFWS meet every year to review the HCP. The meetings also serve as information sharing opportunities and allow for communication between the two agencies. Meeting notes can be found here.
