Water Commissioner Training

DNRC has developed an educational program for water commissioners that provides annual training on commissioner responsibilities and water measurement techniques. This free training is available to anyone interested in the accurate measurement and distribution of water in Montana including state and federal water managers, water commissioners, ditch riders and dam tenders, District Court and Water Court personnel.

2024 Water Commissioner Training Schedule:
Helena: April 3 (all day) and April 4 (half-day) (Helena Agenda)
Hamilton: April 11 (all day) (Hamilton Agenda)
Dillon: April 18 (all day) (Dillon Agenda)

Helena Training Location: The classroom portion of the training will be held at the Opportunity Bank Conference Center, directly north of DNRC headquarters (1550 Vandelay Ave, across 11th Ave). The building is clearly marked and in the same area as Starbucks and the new Benefis facility. Please park in the lot on the EAST side of the building and enter through the door on the SOUTHEAST side (look for signs). Meeting information for carpooling to the field on Thursday will be provided at the end of the classroom portion of training.
