Place of Use Index Instruction

These reports are available by county.  The report is sorted by township, range, and section.

Report Description:
QTR SC -- Quarter section description.
SEC TWP RNG -- Section, township & range.
USE -- Two letter use code (see explanation)
PRCL NO -- Parcel number assigned for that use.
OWNER --  Water Right Owner(s).
WR_TYPE  -- title of form filed.
LATE -- late filing designation. A - non-subordinate, B- subordinate to all timely filed claims.
BASIN  -- Code for drainage basin.
Water Right #  -- Water right number.
  Specific identification number assigned to each water right by DNRC
V - version.
MAX_FLW_RT FLW -- flow rate/unit (gpm-gallons per minute cfs-cubic feet per second).
VOLUME -- volume in acre-feet per year.
SOURCE  -- Water source name.
PRIORITY -- Priority date for water right.

Water rights have places of use for use(s).  A water right may be listed with multiple places of use. 
The parcel number (PRCL NO) will denote this.  A water right may have multiple uses and thus will
have multiple places of use corresponding to each uses.  A list of use codes follows the end of this
document.  Also, a water right may have multiple owners (especially husband and wife) and may be listed
multiple times for each owner for each parcel/purpose.

TO USE THIS REPORT: Use features in your browser to locate or find information.  Using find
commands you can search for a name, or a legal description.  Use correct spacing to find section. 
Example: 10n  03w or  03 10n  03w.

You can block your result and copy to a clipboard or to a word processing document.  By
choosing courier font your report will line up.  Choose 10 pt font with one half inch margins and
the document should line up.  You can also download or copy the entire report to your hard drive
to use at your convenience.

Dated material.  This report may not be updated for some time.  New applications, updated
ownership, revocations of permits, withdrawals of water rights or corrections can occur.  This
report is provided as a public service by the state of Montana.  User assumes total responsibility
for verification.
