Decree Abstract Instructions

  • Volume numbers replicate "Books" or Volumes of the issued decree.
  • Each volume is organized by blocks of water right numbers.

  • Page numbers replicate page numbers of the hard copy decree issued by the WaterCourt.

  • Water rights follow in numerical order.

TO USE THIS REPORT:

Scroll with the right hand buttons or slide bar of your browser to find desired water right number. Use find or search features in your browser to locate or find information. Using find commands you can search for a water right number, name, or other description. PRINTING: To print, you can block desired information and copy to a clipboard or to a word processing document. By choosing courier font your report will line up. Choose 10 pt font with one half inch margins and the document should fit your paper. You can also download or copy the entire report to your hard drive to use at your convenience. Water Right Number Explanation: Water Right # -- Water right number. Example 41H-W-119240-00: 41H Code for drainage basin. W-119240-00 Specific identification number assigned to each water right by DNRC WATER RIGHT ID A letter code represents the water right id. The code categorizes a type of water record: A pre 1973 late claims filed - recv'd after April 30, 1982 but on or before May 7, 1982* B pre 1973 late claims filed - recv'd after May 7, 1982* *execution date, post marked date, and received date further taken into account O pre 1973 - terminated or withdrawn claim of existing water right U pre 1973 - federal reserve claim W pre 1973 - claim of existing water right X pre 1973 - noted interstate interbasin transfer of water

On each abstract, the remarks section outlined in asterisks denote unresolved issue remarks found by the DNRC prior to issuance of the decree. If no issues were found, the remark text area states: "THE DNRC EXAMINATION OF THIS CLAIM FOUND NO SIGNIFICANT FACTS, DATA, OR ISSUES TO REPORT TO THE WATER COURT."
