Springdale Wind Farm

The proposed Springdale Wind Farm is presently being analyzed through an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process as required under the Montana Environmental Policy Act (MEPA). In May of 2008, the DNRC Southern Land Office sent out scoping notices to area landowners and other interested parties and also held a public meeting in Big Timber.

Initial public scoping comments were due on 13 June 2008 and the consulting firm of Garcia and Associates is presently gathering information and preparing a Draft EIS. The proponent, Coyote Wind, LLC, is proposing to located six to ten wind turbines on State School Trust land described as Section 36, Township 1 North, Range 12 East in Sweet Grass County, generally located north of I-90 halfway between Big Timber and Livingston. The Trust land would be a part of a larger wind energy development that would also include some adjoining private land.

Additional information regarding this project can be obtained by contacting Jeff Bollman, Area Planner, Southern Land Office at or 406-247-4404.
