SPECIAL RECREATIONAL USE LICENSE FOR OUTFITTING ON STATE LAND
COMPETITIVE BID LICENSE NUMBER #CLO-20-001
Exclusive Special Recreational Use License for Outfitting (SRUL) on the following State School Trust Lands in Lewis and Clark County, Montana:
LOCATION OF TRACT(s): N2N2, SW4NW4: Section 26 – Township 22 North – Range 8 West –200 acres, S2N2: Section 35 – Township 22 North – Range 8 West –160 acres
TOTAL ACRES: Approximately 360 acres
MINIMUM ANNUAL BID: $10,000.00
BID DEADLINE: May 15, 2020
THE SRUL WILL BE ISSUED SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Bidders must be a licensed outfitter. The license will be issued to the highest bidder, and the high bid will
establish the annual rental for this license. This license is non-transferable and may only be used by the
licensee for the purpose for which it is issued and is only valid for the lands described above. Only the
licensee can book clients for trips that access the above-described lands. No other Licensed Outfitter or
Guide may be sublicensed under this agreement. All fees collected from clients must be directly
assignable to the licensee or their business on this license. The term of the license will be for a period of
approximately five (5) years, beginning upon license issuance and will expire on February 28, 2025. The
annual period of use will be from April 15 through October 15. The purpose of this license is to grant the
successful bidder motorized access across State Trust Lands on the designated route identified on the
attached map to access the Sun River for outfitted fishing operations only. This license authorizes
motorized access through the State Trust Lands listed above on the designated open road only for
commercial outfitted fishing activities. Commercial outfitted fishing purposes include: boat launch and
take out in the designated location, wade fishing on Section 26 T22N R8W only, day-trip activities on
Section 26 T22N R8W only. Camping in conjunction with commercial outfitting operations is
prohibited. DNRC Grizzly Bear Food Storage Requirements must be adhered to by the successful bidder.
This license does not authorize travel on private or federal lands to access the Sun River. It is the
responsibility of the successful bidder to obtain any permits or permission to travel on adjacent properties.
All sealed bids must be postmarked no later than May 15, 2020, and shall be submitted on a completed Special Recreational Use Competitive Bid Form (Form DS-RU4). Furthermore, each bid must be accompanied with a certified check, cashier’s check, or money order equal to 20% of the total bid offered. In addition, a $25.00 non-refundable application fee must accompany the bid. All bids must be placed in a sealed envelope and marked Sealed Bid – SRUL for Outfitting #CLO-20-001. Sealed bids must be sent to the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC), Attn: Recreational Use Coordinator, P.O. Box 201601, Helena, MT 59620-1601.
