Sage grouse program work sessions scheduled

HELENA, Mont -- The Montana Sage Grouse Habitat Conservation Program will host two work sessions in November on mitigation for unavoidable impacts of development in designated sage grouse habitat, as called for in Executive Order 12-2015 and the state’s Greater Sage Grouse Stewardship Act.

The first work session will take place on November 1, 2016, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation headquarters, 1539 Eleventh Avenue, Helena, MT 59601, in the Montana Room.

The second work session will take place on November 16, 2016, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation headquarters, 1539 Eleventh Avenue, Helena, MT 59601, in the Montana Room.

Carolyn Sime, Sage Grouse Habitat Conservation Program Manager, said similar work sessions will be scheduled in the future in advance of formal rule-making.

Mitigation will also be discussed at upcoming meetings of the Montana Sage Grouse Oversight Team (MSGOT). Opportunities for public review and comment prior to finalizing Montana’s mitigation framework will be offered in conjunction with those meetings and during the rule-making process.
