Applications Available for Petroleum Workshop

BILLINGS, Mont. – Applications are now available for the 2008 Petroleum Resources Workshop, to be held June 23 – 27 on the campus of Montana State University – Billings.

"This annual event is a great opportunity for Montana's elementary and secondary school teachers to learn more about the petroleum industry and its impacts on the people and economy of Montana," said Tom Richmond, Administrator of the Montana Board of Oil and Gas.

Workshops are conducted by petroleum engineers and other industry professionals, Richmond said. Participants will learn about discovery and production methods for oil and gas, as well as the production and delivery process for crude oil. The workshop includes two all-day field trips.

"Attendees will come away from the workshops with a more complete understanding of the petroleum industry," Richmond said. "They will also receive a complete set of notes and teaching aids for presenting this information to their students in the classroom."

Attendees will also earn 35 Renewal Units for Montana Educator license requirements.

Registration is limited to 40 participants and prompt registration is encouraged. Registrations will be accepted through June 1 or as space is available. A $100 registration deposit must be submitted to hold the space; the deposit will be refunded at the workshop. All lodging, meals and course materials are provided at no charge.

The 2008 Petroleum Resources Workshop is sponsored by the Montana Board of Oil and Gas Conservation. For more information or to register, contact Leo Heath with Sylvan Petroleum at (406) 494 - 5691.
