Montana Youth Range Camp deadline June 30

Two Dot, Mont. – Openings are still available for the 2017 Montana Youth Range Camp, to be held July 10 – 14 at the McFarland White Ranch, nestled below the picturesque Crazy Mountains near Two Dot, Mont.

“Range camp is one of the longest-running natural resource camps in Montana,” said Stacey Barta, Rangeland Resources Program Coordinator with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC). “It’s a great opportunity for youth ages 11 to 16 to learn about Montana’s largest renewable resource – our native rangelands.”

The $200.00 registration fee covers lodging, meals, and all supplies. This year’s camp is co-hosted by the Upper Musselshell and Cascade conservation districts.

Range Camp is an outdoor classroom experience led by knowledgeable natural resource experts; students learn about soils and geology, plant identification, rangeland monitoring, grazing management, and other topics. Evening programs and activities provide campers with plenty of time for fun and the chance to form lasting friendships.

New this year is an opportunity for campers ages 16 and older – or who have participated in Range Camp for three years – to serve as a Range Camp counselor.

The deadline for registration is June 30, 2017. For more details, contact the Upper Musselshell Conservation District at (406) 632-5534, ext. 101, or visit the DNRC web site at http://dnrc.mt.gov/divisions/cardd/camps/montana-youth-range-camp.
