Hazard Reduction Agreement fees to increase

Hazard Reduction Agreement (HRA) fees will increase beginning on July 1, 2019, for all deliveries of wood products to any purchasing mill in Montana. The small increase is the result of HB 119, passed by the 2019 Legislature and signed into law by Governor Bullock. Effective July 1, 2019:

1. Hazard Reduction Agreement fees will increase from $0.60 to $0.85 per 1,000 board feet (MBF) of timber sold.

2. The MSU Extension Forestry fee will increase from $0.15 to $0.30 per 1,000 board feet (MBF) of timber sold.

3. The slash bond will remain unchanged at $6.00 per 1,000 board feet (MBF) of timber sold.

As a result of the above increases, expect the amount withheld by mills purchasing your logs to increase from $6.75 / MBF to $7.15 / MBF. If you are selling by the ton, the new rate will be $1.03 / ton. Piece counts will no longer be used for reporting.
