Pest Management
The Forest Pest Management (FPM) Program provides pest surveys, training and technical services for the management and control of damaging insects and diseases on Montana's State and private forests. The program operates in conjunction with the United States Forest Service's Region One Forest Health Protection Program.
The Program Provides The Following Services
| Conduct detection surveys on State and Private Lands | |
| Train natural resource agency personnel | |
| Publish insect and disease conditions reports | |
| Provide public information about forest insect and disease trends and outbreaks | |
| Identify pest samples submitted by other agencies and the public | |
| Evaluate insect and disease outbreaks of biological and economic importance on State and Private Lands | |
| Provide FPM input to the Department's long-term timber sale planning process | |
| On-site reviews and written evaluations of individual forest management projects of the Department | |
| Coordinate suppression projects | |
| Establish and maintain quarantines with other agencies |
