Montana Forest Pest Condition Reports
The “Montana Forest Insect and Disease Conditions and Program Highlights”, commonly referred to as the “Conditions Report”, is the annual summary produced cooperatively by the Montana DNRC, Forest Pest Management program, and the U.S. Forest Service, Forest Health Protection program. It reports current forest insect and disease conditions.
Results of the annual aerial detection survey are always featured in the conditions report and are presented by bark beetle and defoliator species; land ownership; and in total across Montana. Forest diseases are difficult to describe and quantify from aerial survey and so disease data consists of general descriptions and observations from federal and state forest pathologists.
