Revenue, Recreation and Conservation: Implementing the Whitefish Neighborhood Plan (WNP)
Trail Runs Through It
Included in the implementation phase of the Whitefish Area Trust Lands Management Plan is the establishment of a recreation trail looping around Whitefish Lake and the city itself.
A planning committee for the project dubbed "Trail Runs Through It" (TRTI) was appointed by the Whitefish City Council and Flathead Gateway Partners, and working with DNRC representatives, they were tasked with implementing the TRTI Master Plan. Parts of the trail have been formally developed and licensed and trailheads and connector trails are under construction. Significant additions and improvements for the Spring and Summer of 2010 are currently under review, signage plan/logo development is in progress and the grand opening for the first phase of the trail is slated for July, 2010.
