Preliminary Injunction - On April 5, 2012, the Montana First Judicial District Court issued a preliminary injunction preventing the state of Montana from implementing any of the terms of Senate Bill 409, which includes prohibiting the Land Board or the DNRC from applying any rules or regulations adopted to implement Senate Bill 409.

Cabin and Home Site Lease Sales (October 18, 2013)
The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) is considering the adoption of New Administrative Rules I - VIII, amendment of ARM 36.25.128, and repeal of ARM 36.25.131 pertaining to the sale of cabin sites and home sites.
Northwestern Energy overhead distribution line (September 24, 2013)
The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) has received an easement application for an overhead distribution line upon state trust lands located in Powell County. The purpose is to grant a permanent easement to Northwestern Energy for 610 feet of overhead power line used to service several existing microwave sites located on Rocky Ridge, located in the S2 of Section 24, Township 9 North, Range 9 West. This line was installed in the 1970's, and a pole relocation project this past summer brought the lines lack of an easement to the DNRC's attention.
Freeman Ridge Reciprocal Access Agreement (AKA Stimson #4) (August 28, 2013)
The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Libby Unit and Stimson Lumber Company have intermingled lands where an exchange of easements would facilitate an integrated road system that access land for both parties. An exchange of right of way easements has been proposed by Stimson in the Freeman Ridge area 4 ľ miles south southeast of Troy, Montana.
Hanson Private Home Encroachment (August 28, 2013)
The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) has received an easement application to resolve a recently discovered residential encroachment upon state trust lands located in Granite County within Section 16 Township 11 North, Range 15 West. The purpose is to grant a permanent easement to David & Carol Hansen who construction a portion of their home on state land due, in part, to a faulty survey done in 2003 prior to their purchase of the land. MCA 77 -2-101 allows for the granting of easements for private home encroachments and MCA 77-1-125 addresses the liabilities for unauthorized installation of facilities upon state land. The easement grant requested is approximately 1 acre.
Telecommunications Line Easement in Silverbow County (August 28, 2013)
The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) has received an easement application to install a buried telecommunications line upon state trust lands located in Silverbow County. The purpose is to grant a permanent easement to Southern Montana Telephone Company to install a buried telecommunications line across the NW4NW4 of Section 16, Township 1 North, Range 9 West for the purposes of upgrading their current facilities and services to the Divide and Wise River Exchanges. Public comment will be taken through September 30, 2013.
Firestone Flats Fire Salvage (August 14, 2013)
