Pursuant to statute, DNRC maintains a list of "interested persons" who are notified when the department proposes to amend or adopt its administrative rules. If you would like you or your organization to be on this list, please contact Lucy Richards, ARM Coordinator. Please provide your name, e-mail address, physical address, and the topics you wish to be notified of: conservation districts and resource development, forestry, oil and gas conservation, trust land management, and/or water resources.

Preliminary Injunction - On April 5, 2012, the Montana First Judicial District Court issued a preliminary injunction preventing the state of Montana from implementing any of the terms of Senate Bill 409, which includes prohibiting the Land Board or the DNRC from applying any rules or regulations adopted to implement Senate Bill 409.

Oil and Gas Lease Sale Notices
NOTICE OF STATE OF MONTANA OIL & GAS LEASE SALE.The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation will hold an oil and gas lease sale at 9:00 a.m., June 4, 2013 in the Dept. of Transportation Auditorium, 2701 Prospect Ave, Helena, MT. The June sale includes 65 tracts in the following counties: Big Horn (1), Cascade (8), Dawson (3), Fergus (5), Gallatin (4), Glacier (7), Hill (2), Lewis and Clark (4), McCone (1), Meagher (16), Musselshell (8), Park (2), Richland (2), Toole (1), and Wibaux (1). Public Notice for proposed forest management activities on the DNRC’s Missoula Unit in Mineral County, MT.
Tin Robin Timber Permit (April 30, 2013)
The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation is considering timber management activities on State School Trust Lands within the Robbins Gulch drainage, section 16, T2N, R20W near Conner, MT and section16, T3N, R21W within the Tin Cup drainage near Darby, MT. Please submit comments or questions by May 15, 2013
Upper Lynch MToe Timber Sale (April 25, 2013)
The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Plains Unit, is in the process of planning a timber sale. The proposed project is called Upper Lynch MToe Timber Sale and is located in the Lynch Creek drainage area, approximately 7 air miles north of Plains, Montana on Section 14, Township 21 North, Range 26 West. If approved, this sale would likely sell in the summer of 2013 and is projected to produce approximately 250 thousand board feet of sawlog volume.

McGinnis Creek Timber Harvest (April 17, 2013)
The Department of Natural Resource and Conservation, Libby Unit is proposing a timber harvest on approximately 430 acres, on portions of one parcel of state trust land, located in Sec. 16, T26N, R28W, in the McGinnis Creek drainage.
Flatwillow Timber Permit (April 10, 2013)
The Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Northeastern Land Office in Lewistown, is in the planning and analysis phase for a proposed timber permit. The Flatwillow Timber Permit would be in the NE4 section 29, and the NW4 section 28, T13N, R21E on State Lands in Fergus Co.
Lower McCully Timber Sale (April 1, 2013)
The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Plains Unit, is in the process of planning a timber sale. The proposed project is called Lower McCully Timber Sale and is located in the Thompson River drainage area, approximately 20 air miles Northwest of Plains, Montana on Section 14, Township 23 North, Range 27 West. If approved, this sale would likely sell in the spring of 2014 and is projected to produce approximately 3 million board feet of sawlog volume.
Good Long Boyle 2 Timber Sale (March 18,2013)
The Stillwater Unit is proposing fuels reduction work and timber harvest activies from State Trust lands. These lands are located in the Stillwater River watershed and begin adjacent to and run south of the Stillwater Unit Office in Olney, MT.
Cilly Cliffs Multiple Timber Sale Project (February 5,2013)
The Swan River State Forest, Department of Natural Resources and Conservation is proposing the Cilly Cliffs Multiple Timber Sale Project Proposal. This project would consist of multiple timber sales that would be sold and harvested over several years.
Belmont Timber Sale (January 17, 2013)
The Missoula Unit of the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation is developing plans for a proposed timber sale. It will most likely involve commercial thinning, shelterwood and selection harvests. Harvesting would be conducted in such a manner as to emulate those stand conditions which typically existed within the proposed sale area prior to organized fire suppression and may take place on approximately 300 to 500 acres.
