Regional Woody Biomass Utilization Project Planning Grants

Eligible Areas: general vicinity of Bozeman, Helena, Butte, or Whitefish
Eligible Applicants: businesses, public entities, state and local governments, institutions, tribal and non-profit entities
Eligible Activities: feasibility study, pre-construction (planning, design, permitting) of biomass utilization projects
Award Available: $5,000-$20,000 depending on region of state
Submission Deadline: July 22, 2011

Regional Biomass Energy Pre-Feasibility Assessments

Eligible Applicants:  public schools and institutions, non-profit and tribal facilities
Eligible Areas: see map
Eligible Activities: hire firm to conduct pre-feasibility assessment for integrating a wood biomass energy system
Award Available: full cost of assessment, not to exceed $3,500
Submission Deadline: Open

Woody Biomass Energy Incentive Grant

Eligible Applicants: school/institution funded through public dollars that is located within the "Eligible Applicant Area" defined in this map.
Eligible Activities: selected applicants who can demonstrate a commitment to installing a woody biomass energy system are eligible to receive funding to cover the cost of purchasing their first year’s worth of woody biomass
Grant Amount: DNRC anticipates awarding a total of $107,000 to one or more projects

Carbon Offsets for Woody Biomass Energy Projects

Eligible Applicants: public/non-profit facilities
Eligible Activities: facilities installing a woody biomass energy system may be eligible to sell their carbon offsets to assist in funding their project via an agreement between the DNRC and The Climate Trust.
