      • Sula North Aerial Weed Spraying 2012 (May 8, 2012)
        As part of an Integrated Weed Management Program (IWM) the DNRC, Hamilton Unit is proposing an aerial application of Transline, a clopyralid MEA salt, non-restricted use herbicide, on approximately 218 acres. The parcel is located within the Sula State Forest.  The purpose is to treat an infestation of spotted knapweed with the desired outcome of increasing the coverage of native grasses and forbs. This proposed noxious weed treatment includes the proposed herbicide application in 2012.

      • Fourmile Timber Sale Environmental Assessment (May 17, 2012)
        Environmental Assessment of the commercial  harvest of approximately 4.5 million board feet of sawlogs from school trust lands in the vicinity of St. Regis, MT.
      • Fish Bull Face Timber Sale Project (April 30, 2012)
        The Stillwater Unit, DNRC, is proposing a timber sale and several timber permits on approximately 505 acres near Stryker, MT.Proposed activities include several types of harvest prescriptions including regeneration type harvest and commercial thinning. The existing Fish Lake Road would be relocated away from the shores of Fish Lake and other existing roads would be improved.

      • Mystery Fish Timber Sale Project (April 20, 2012)
        The Stillwater Unit of the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) proposes to harvest approximately 5 million board feet of timber from 456 acres of ground approximately 5 miles north of Olney, MT. The project area totals 1,915 acres and includes existing and proposed roads needed to access and support the proposed project activities.

        DNRC is reviewing a request from the surface lessee to break former conservation reserve program acreage on State of Montana lands.

        DNRC is reviewing a request from the surface lessee to break crested wheatgrass on State of Montana lands. 
      • Lease 7568 Land Breaking (May 18, 2012)
        DNRC has received a writen request from the surface lessee to break an estimated 119.4 acres more or less of former conservation reserve program acreage. The acreage would be used for small grain and pulse crop production.
      • Lease 4615 Spicher Land Inc Expiring CRP Break Request (May 17, 2012)
        The lessee has requested authorization to break expiring CRP, tame pasture, and native rangeland for small grain production.
      • 10331 CRP Break Request (May 9, 2012)
        The proponent is requesting permission to break approximately 317.3 acres of classified agland expired CRP on the State Land identified above for dryland small grain production.
      • 3123 Renovation Request (May 9, 2012)
        The proponent is requesting permission to renovate approximately 220 acres of native rangeland on the State Land identified above in order improve forage production and increase trust income that has been impacted by dense clubmoss and Blue Gramma soil capping. The project will be done in thirds to fit in the lessees management plan.
      • 7750 CRP Break Request (May 8, 2012)
        The proponent is requesting permission to break approximately 106 acres of classified agland espired CRP on School Trust Land for dryland small grain production.
      • Lease 10221 Gary Hemry Expiring CRP Break Request (April 30, 2012)
        CRP contract #486C containing 502.60 acres expires on 9/30/2012.  The lessee, Gary Hemry, has requested to break these expiring CRP acres.
      • McGinnis Meadows Fence Construction (April 24, 2012)
        The proponent has requested to build approximately 3 miles of 3 wire, high tensil, electric fence with wooden braces and corner posts.  The fence would be built along the West, North, and East property lines of Section 16, T26N, R28W, and along a short portion of the county road. Wire spacing from the ground up would be 18 inches to the bottom wire, 28 inches to the middle wire and 36 inches to the top wire.  This fence would allow the proponent to utilize state land for grazing while preventing livestock from entering the adjacent property.

      • NorthWestern Energy Optical Ground Wire Temporary Construction License (May 14, 2012)
        NorthWestern Energy is requesting a Temporary Construction License to allow the installation of an Optical Ground Wire on their existing 50kV overhead transmission line east of Big Timber that crosses the Yellowstone River.
      • Yellowstone Pipe Line Co. Installation (May 8, 2012)
        Installation of a new HDD (Horizontal Direction Drill) crossing and check valve for the Yellowstone Pipe Line Company’s 10” refined petroleum products pipe line at the East Gallatin River. 
      • LUL 3299 Chippewa Cree Road Use (May 8, 2012)
        The proponent is requesting a Land Use License to do maintenance and ingress egress on established road to quarry on Reservation lands. Secondary LUL or Right of Way Easement may be applied for the purpose of ingress egress to install and maintain an aerial tower on tribal land. .

      • Wood Gulch Repository Land Banking (April 17, 2012)
        To use the DNRC’s Land Banking process to sell approximately 12 acres of Capital Buildings Trust Land (surface state only) to the highest responsible bidder.  The area being proposed for sale is currently being leased by the Department of Environmental Quality for use as a repository to safely accumulate mine waste. It is anticipated that this use will continue following the sale. As the lessee, the DEQ is the party that nominated this parcel for Land Banking.
